Hey all!
Wow, ok so I'm sucking at the blogging lately. Ugh. Sorry guys! This will be a big overall update and pics are coming as soon as I get them from my Father and Father in law (they took most of them, I just enjoyed the day!) :)
First of all, the "Train Happy Day" was a hit. He had a FANTASTIC weekend on his birthday and it went off without a hitch. He had a kid party in the morning on Friday and had a blast with all his friends... then the family party was on Saturday. We made him a Thomas the Train cake that turned out great, and he was sooooo impressed with it! He had specifically requested a Train Happy Day Cake, and boy did he ever get it! His eyes lit up when he saw it. :) He got a new bike from Mommy and Daddy (which he asks daddy to take him out for a ride EVERY day after work... Mommy can't keep up, so he holds out for Daddy time.) and a Train table and train accessories from the Grandparents and family. The train table is a huge hit, all his friends love it, and he's got tons of trains so it's a great toy for more than one kid. It came with a bunch, and then he got some of his favourite Thomas characters (and one that is battery powered and will pull other trains!) so there are many to choose from. :) It has seen play time for the better part of almost every day. Good times. He is a spoiled but happy little boy. haha! At least he's a really good sharer. ;)
In other Logan news... the soother fairy is coming this weekend. Yep, grandparents beware (we won't ask you to babysit until this is settled, promise!) the precious soother is going bye-bye. He is most definitely addicted to his soother, and is starting to ask for it during the day even though he knows he can't have it until naptime or bedtime. We are seeing it as becoming an increasingly addicting thing and it'll be easier to stop it now rather than later. So... we are formulating a plan, but I think I might have a good idea that may work. It'll be hard no matter what, and I know tears will be shed, but we will make it through. Look for the update on the soother status. haha!
Now... baby! Baby is doing very well and doing a good job of staying put, despite the attempts to escape. I had a series of Braxton Hicks contractions that made us nervous enough to go to the hospital and get checked out, but things were ok. No signs of real labour and my Fetal Assessments have been great! Woo hoo! Go baby!
We also now have a scanner, so I can scan baby pictures! Let me figure out how to do that, and I'll post them. :) I'll do a big picture post soon. Unfourtunately I can't find the picture they gave me from today, and I'm thinking I might have left it on the desk at the Fetal Assessment department. That makes me super sad, but I'm going to call them and hopefully I can get it later. Here's hoping it's not lost!
Ross is gearing up for school, and very pumped about it. "One more week of work!" he keeps telling me. I think he's very excited to be going back to school finally. One step closer to achieving his dreams.
I am doing alright. It's been a rough week emotionally for me, because we are right around the time in pregnancy when Faith was born, but I am managing. Having a good ultrasound today was very helpful. I am plugging through and am determined to make it to the end. Otherwise, not a whole lot else new with us. That's the update on the McCallum family!
I will be back with pictures soon!
Adios!

update on baby!
Hey guys!
Gah, do I ever owe you an update! So sorry I haven't been on here more to update this blog, but you know how it goes...
So... baby is doing great. We have been having fetal assessments every 2 weeks to keep an eye on whether or not I am showing signs of premature labour. So far so good! All of my measurements have been great and everything looks nice and closed! No signs of labour starting anytime in the very near future. A HUGE answer to prayer. We are fast approaching the point in pregnancy when I had Faith and things are looking positive so far. I saw my OB this morning and he agreed with my Fetal Assessment doc that things are going well, but we will continue with the plan. I think everyone wants to be very involved until we get past the point of viability - when baby could be born and have a chance of survival outside of me. That point is around 25-26 weeks, but the odds get much better after 28 weeks. I am much more comfortable with this monitoring and am very thankful that my docs are not relaxing just because they've seen a few good scans. I want the follow up to continue until we're in a safe zone, because with Faith things changed VERY quickly. The purpose of all of this is to be pro-active instead of caught offguard, so I am glad that we are sticking to that plan.
Baby is measuring great and is right on time. They have moved my official due date to January 7th. That's a few days ahead of my original due date of January 10th, so I was pretty surprised! I have never been bumped up before! They always tell me that baby is smaller than they thought! Anatomy scans are all finished (the typical 20 week ultrasound stuff) and everything is looking great. The fun thing about it all being done in fetal assessment instead of the regular ultrasound department is that they are MUCH more detailed with the scans and a LOT nicer about it too! So far Ross has been given 2 tours of the baby's brain (one by the tech, and the other by a doc who was teaching a resident about it...) and he finds it all very interesting. Once I tell them that Ross is a Psych Major they say "Oh!" and get all detailed with him. Half the time I wonder if he understands, cuz I sure don't... but he seems to. haha! They've also shown us the heart in detail, the face and told us all sorts of stuff about normal development, placental attachement, etc. It's amazing. I think I know more about ultrasounds now then I ever would have in life had I not gone through this! It's amazing.
In other life, we are gearing up for Logan's birthday... or as he calls it, his "Train Happy Day!" We are going with a train theme and the grandparents have gone together to buy him a train table for his birthday. He'll absolutley love it, I'm sure. He is completely obsessed with trains these days. Trains and Cars. I've also told him that he can have a train cake... well... that was just BEYOND his imagination. Now he's asking almost every day for a "Train Happy Day Cake... Brown Happy Day" (the Brown part come from Ross's birthday cake having chocolate icing... he realized that cake comes in brown and white, and he has made it well known that he prefers brown. haha!) I'll have to figure out how to work some brown into this train... but I'm hoping that the fact that it's chocolate cake will suffice. I'm sure he'll just be amazed that it's a train.
So we are busy this week getting ready for his birthday and trying to find him a bike before his birthday actually comes. Ross and I are getting him his first bike for his birthday. He has a trike that he has learned to pedal really well and now scoots around on quite a bit in the basement. (If the stupid rain would go away we could go outside!!!) so we figured it was time for a real bike. We've taken him shopping a few times and he fits a small bike pretty good and he loves biking. Now we jsut have to pick one. Hopefully tonight will be the end of our shopping sprees for this thing. :)
So that's all that's happening with us! I'll try to keep updated more often, and will post pics of the birthday party soon!

Fetal Assessment update
Hey all!
So here's the BIG update from our fetal assessment today. I am being followed very closely by fetal assessment now (every 2 weeks for the next 10 weeks, and then we'll re-assess the frequency) and our scan today went well. Ross was able to get the time off to come with me, so that was fantastic. It's always 100x more fun when he's there. :)
So... going through our issues one by one...
Placenta previa: this has been relatively resolved and will get better with time. As we suspected the placenta is beginning to move as the baby grows, and that growth will naturally pull the placenta upwards. This is beginning to happen and my placenta is now what they'd call "very low lying placenta" but not quite covering the opening. The doctor said that by the time I deliver the baby, my doctor will likely not even give my placenta placement a second thought. So we'll consider that resolved. :)
Incompetent Cervix: My measurement today was fantastic and the doctor asked me a ton of questions about my labour and birth with Faith. After discussing it at length, he is not convinced that I have this and he says it sounds more like I just went into spontaneous premature labour. The surgical procedure that has been postponed many times now, is now off the table. It's not being done. That's a good thing because that would have limited my activity and put me on bedrest for a week post surgery.
Factor V Leiden: My clotting disorder. It seems that this is the most likely culprit for my premature birth with Faith, so my hematologist has doubled my heparin (blood thinners) for the rest of the pregnancy and recommended I stay on them for 6 weeks post pardum. No biggie. I'm getting used to the needles and our summer generally sucks so it's not like the bruises on my stomach from the heparin is hindering my bikini-wearing... which is non-existant... unless I were to swim in the massive puddles on my front street. But that's not likely.
The rest of the story: There is still the risk of premature labour. So, the doctor at fetal assessment has decided that he'd like to do a fetal assessment every 2 weeks until I am generally out of the "danger zone" and closer to 3rd trimester. We will be doing the bi-weekly ones for the next 10 weeks and then re-assess the need based on what those scans show. There are signs that they can look for in fetal assessment that will predict if I am going to go into labour early, and this will be what they are specifically looking for each scan. My Obstetrician (general pregnancy doc) will also be seeing me every 2 weeks (as has been the norm for the entire pregnancy thus far) and my hematologist will see me in 2 months. So I am definitely not being forgotten about. ;) I will be very familiar with this baby by the time it comes. :) We can even get some pictures at fetal assessment so I'll see about getting those scanned or something to post up here. The machine didn't work this time, but she said next time we'd get them. :)
Otherwise everything else is looking good. No signs of placental tears or bleeds, placenta looks great, baby is measuring right on time and looking great. Ross got a tour of the baby's brain (because he asked what she was looking at and I mentioned that he was a Psych major and very interested in brains...) and our tech was fantastic. They were very ready to answer any question we had and were very informative and detailed with us. It was a very good visit overall. :)
So... all is good, we're just keeping an eye on things and watching how they progress. But today, we are doing well. :) Keep praying for us and the baby, our prayers are definitely being heard and they are helping!!!
Until next time!

Still chillin
Still pregnant, still chillin out on the couch, just doing my thing...
We are on day 4 of no spotting, so I am hoping this is the new trend. I go and see my doc again on Tuesday next week and we discuss the surgical procedure then. We are all REALLY hoping that it'll be a go, and that I can get it done ASAP as it will really help this baby stay put for a while. Everything crossed!
As for life... aside from gearing up for the arrival of some out of town guests this week, and a busy week next week with all the entertaining we will be doing... there's not a whole lot new over here. Glenn and Sandy arrive on Friday and we have a huge family BBQ with some very extended family of Ross's side next Wednesday. Ross's grandma has a cousin coming in out of town, and it is her family I believe that is all getting together. Needless to say we will have a LOT of people that Ross and I both don't know in our house Wednesday night. haha! So lots of prep for that happening here since we're really not sure how many people are coming and it's kinda sounding like a lot. :)
Ross will be registering his courses soon and I haven't seen him this excited about something in a looong time! He has bought a few textbooks so far (something Ross LOVES doing... if you know Ross, you know his love for new books.) and is very excited to go back to University in the fall.
And we have also learned that we do have the option of getting coverage in the fall through the undergraduate program that Ross can choose to opt into as a graduate student. This is EXCELLENT news for me because I was scheduled to get two wisdom teeth out in late August and well... considering how this pregnancy is going, getting wisdom teeth out is not high on my priority list, nor does it sound like a fun thing to do right now. haha.
Otherwise we are starting to think about Logan's birthday, which is a month from today. Can someone please explain to me when my child got to be 2 years old??? This year will be a train birthday as he absolutely adores trains right now. We just had Ross's birthday recently, and Logan is catching on to the birthday idea. Mainly the fact that birthdays mean that there will be birthday cake somewhere in the house. Or as Logan likes to refer to birthdays... "Happy day" (his version of Happy Birthday). He's looking forward to his train "happy day" cake and is wrapping his little mind around the fact that now that Daddy's "happy day" is over, his "happy day" comes next! He will often ask if we have any happy day cake after supper. haha!
Ah the fun. Till next time!

Chuggin' along.
Hey all. Just a quick update on us. Baby is still doing well, and still staying where it should be right now. My doctor is wanting to wait for the surgical procedure, for the spotting to stop... so we are playing the waiting game there. I will be having more frequent ultrasounds to check on things and make sure that I'm not showing any signs of progressing towards labour, so that is reassuring. I am still spotting a small bit every day, but am taking it really easy at home and resting as much as I can (without losing my sanity) so that things can heal and change for the better.
Ross is doing alright. He's coping fantastically well for all the pressure he's under right now. Things are busy at work, and then he comes home to being mom, dad, cook, night-duty with Logan... it's a lot. But friends and family have been so generous and helpful with taking the load off of both of us. It has been a real blessing. We are very very blessed to have such wonderful people around us at times like this. We were also blessed with a doppler to have at home, from some wonderful friends that owned one. (It's the machine to hear the baby's heartbeat via my stomach) So we have been listening to the baby every day and bonding with it that way.
So we're just taking it day by day and praying with all we have for protection over this baby and that we can see it born healthy and term. We appreciate all the prayers that are being sent our way, keep them coming becuase they are definitely helping.
Will be back soon!

Update on the family...
Has it EVER been a crazy few weeks over here. We have had our hands full with a few pregnancy scares (I can't get through it without at least one scare apparently) and a lot of stuff going on in life, but all is well and here is the update.
First off, the baby. Baby is still doing well and is healthy. I had some spotting for the last week and was supposed to be scheduled for a simple surgical procedure (unrelated to the spotting, more related to preventing the premature birth that I had with Faith) but that was postponed due to the spotting. We weren't sure what was going on or if the baby was still ok, but after a week of spotting I got fed up and demanded an ultrasound... which I got that day! So off I go, not sure what I was going to see... but sure enough there's my little baby beating me up from the inside out (literally... this kid was HYPER!) and I don't think it stayed still for 2 seconds. We ended up having an ultrasound tech who was from our church too, which was a total blessing! She finished the scan and went to get the radiologist, which tipped me off that something was up (although I expected there to be something up... I am still spotting afterall...) and he comes in to do another scan. They were looking specifically at the placenta, which was sitting quite low, and sure enough it is lying right over the opening of my uterus. This is called a "Placenta Previa" for those of you who are into googling things. Now it's not like the pictures you'll find, where the whole placenta is sitting right on the bottom... mine just kind of edges over it and is about 6mm past the opening. So it's not big. That's good news because often these things migrate as the uterus grows with the baby, and the growth of the uterus will pull the placenta upwards. If that happens, everything is completely fine and I am cleared for a natural birth as though it never happened. If it doesn't move, then I will be booked for an early c-section to avoid labour. So, we are praying very specifically that the placenta will move, because we do not want to do another c-section. Obviously we will if that's the only way... but if we do that will mean sections from now on, because that will be my second one. And recovery from a natural birth is a LOT easier. So, all in all we still have a very healthy baby and a placenta that is still attached. Praise God!
As for us... well, we're stressed. There's no lying about it, this past few weeks has taken it's toll on us emotionally, physically, mentally... everything. I have no idea what we would do without the amazing friends and family we have around us, it is a blessing and a half to have all the help with Logan, and to have people make us meals. I am physically still quite uncomfortable for some reason (not sure why...) so I'm resting and taking it easy. I also don't want to aggrivate anything as I have had placental tears before and that puts me at risk for another one. So I'm just resting as much as I can, trying to stay as comfortable as possible so that nothing more happens. But, as much as Ross is 100% supportive of this decision (and enforcing it...) it does put a lot of pressure on him. He's got two people's worth of stuff to do around here, including the things I usually do like the cooking, some of caring for Logan, etc... and it is weighing on him. I don't think he stops moving until he goes to bed. It's pretty amazing. But he's only human and he does have a burn out point too, so prayers for extra strength for him would be much appreciated. He is being so incredibly flexible, I am very very blessed to have his support.
Logan is doing great. He's stinkin tall and just won't stop growing. He is a total chatterbox, talking in full 4-5 word sentences and narrarating all of life around him, all the time. It's pretty funny actually. He's SO much fun to be around and he says the funniest things sometimes. He is also 100% in love with this baby and will come up to my tummy and give it kisses and "cud-ohs" (cuddles) all the time. He comes and snuggles his head on my tummy and looks up at me and says to me "Me cud-oh baby!" It's priceless. A friend of ours just had a baby and Logan is in love with their little girl too. He wants to hold her and kiss her all the time, and if he's just playing , he will stop every 10 minutes or so just to go check on the baby and pat her arm or tummy or something, and then go back to playing. It's very sweet. I think he'll love being a brother. Whenever I tell him that soon he will get a baby of his own, he looks at me and says "My baby???" with amazement. I tell him "Yep, you'll get your own baby soon!" "Yaaayyyy!" he says, with lots of clapping. haha.
Oh, and the black eye is gone now. I should have taken a picture the next day, that was the most impressive one. haha! Poor kid.
Tis all for now!

Logan and Ice cream...
... a match truly made in heaven.
Now, for those of you who aren't around Logan a whole lot... you need to understand. Ice cream to Logan is like chocolate to Mommy. It's just a necessity. Might as well make it a food group. He L-O-V-E-S ice cream. We'll drive by any ice cream store (somehow he figured out that McDonalds has icecream too... Pops, do I have you to blame for that???) and he's literally yelling in the back ICE CREAM! MAMA! ICE CREAM?! lol. At least he understands that just because we're passing the store, doesn't mean we're getting it right then. He's ok with "not today sweetie, another day we'll get ice cream." Here's hoping that suffices for a while...
Now, you need to also understand that Logan shares his love for Ice Cream with his Maimou (pronounced Ma-moo by Logan, means Grandma in Gaelic) and she keeps her house stocked. I mean, "what kind of a grandma would she be if she didn't have ice cream in her freezer!" (??? don't ask me! She said it!) So, literally EVERY time we go over to Maimou and Daido's (don't know if I spelled that right, but pronounced Da-doo by Logan and means Grandpa in Gaelic) house he is asking for ice cream. What he really means is an ice cream sandwich, which is always waiting in the bottom freezer for him so that he can pick it out himself (with help to open the freezer, thank goodness...). And of course, being a toddler and having no concept of time, when we're over at Maimou's for breakfast (which we do once a week to catch up and such)
he's asking for it at 7:30am! Sheesh! He wastes no time.
Here's a picture of Logan and Daido eating an ice cream sandwich. I think we were laughing about Logan and his love for ice cream at the time, so he has this look of "what? what did I do??" lol. He's a bit stunned, but you should see his eyes light up when we open up the ice cream. I'll try and get a picture of that sometime.... :)

Logan's trip to the Beach
We got a call bright and early this morning from our friends Hal and Melissa saying that they were taking Kaedyn to the beach, and do we want to come? Ross unfourtunately had to work, but Logan and I went with them and we had a great time. :) (Daddy was ok with it, don't worry. haha!)
Logan was very intrigued that we were going to see water and very annoyed that we had to stop at the grocery store first. He almost fell asleep in the car (which is very unusual for Logan) but he managed to stay awake. This made me relatively confident and relieved that he would sleep on the way home.
Once we got there, Logan was amazed at the HUGE amount of water. He immediately wanted to go in and was ready to go as soon as his swim diaper and trunks were on. Both he and Kaedyn toddled off to the water and were very excited. He was a bit anxious once he got in, thinking that he couldn't walk anymore because of the wet sand, but with both of Mommy's hands and a lot of encouragement he realized that he could keep walking and that we were going swimming. He had a BLAST! He loves water any day of the week, and today was no exception. He loved walking up to his shoulders and being submersed from the shoulders down in water. A relatively new experience for him as he is used to kid pools at the gym and wading pools in the summer. We then played in the sand, which he also loved but flat out refused to stand in the sand without his watershoes on. Thank goodness for those shoes or today would have been a LONG day. As long as those shoes were on, he was good to go (irregardless of if the shoes were filled with sand, go figure).
He lasted till about 2:30pm which is pretty good for Logan considering he's used to going for a nap around 1. The boys both had a great time and managed not to get sun burnt. Which is more than we can say for the poor Mommies, who both have pretty decent sun burns right now. Ah well, we'll survive.
We will definitely be doing the beach again sometime soon, we all had a great time, but I am not doing it alone again. That was a LOT of work, and not something I really want to experience again. Lugging around all the gear AND a toddler by yourself, not easy. Especially when toddlers move slower than the average snail...
And yes, he did fall asleep about 10 minutes into the trip home, slept for about half an hour in the car and then another hour and a half at home. Gotta love the sun for inducing a great sleep. I'm just about ready for one myself...

Post-weekend update
Wow has it ever been a crazy week!!! But, we survived and Logan is being somewhat human today so that's good.
First, last week we moved Logan into his big boy bedroom. We made him a Disney Cars bedroom because he LOVES Lightning McQueen and the movie Cars. It's the only thing he'll watch for looong periods of time, but he could probably make it through the whole movie if he wanted to. Crazy! He just loves cars that much. So, when we showed him his new bedroom he was PUMPED. He ran around the house for the rest of the evening yelling "Mommy! New BED!" and made sure about 50 zillion times that this new bed was a good bed for jumping on. It passed the test apparently. The tranisition to actually SLEEPING in this room was a LOT smoother than we thought it would be. He was awake for about an hour and a half the first bedtime - which we kinda expected so we put him down a touch earlier to give him time to soak in the room before he fell asleep. The next day he fell asleep for his nap almost instantly and bedtime went much smoother. All in all it was a great transition. The only complaint he has (and he voices it at least once a day) is that his "chair" (our rocker glider from the nursery) isn't in his room. We told him that there was no chair in his new room and that it had to stay in the baby room for when the baby comes. He wasn't happy about this. Once he figured out though that we could still snuggle sitting on the bed, and that his new bed was big enough for Mommy to lie down beside him for a bit, it was ok. He still asks for the chair, but will settle for snuggles on the bed instead most times - some times involve more tears than others. All in all he's adjusting VERY well and hasn't looked back.
This weekend was Father's day and we had a BUSY weekend. It was a great weekend all in all, but we were all ready for an early bedtime by Sunday night. Saturday was Ross's Father's day celebrations (so that he gets a day all to himself with Logan and I). Logan and Mommy made breakfast in bed and Logan brought Daddy his card that he made for him. Then we got up and got ready to go to the zoo. Unfourtunately Logan woke up with a pretty bad cold on Saturday morning, so he was a bit more mellow than usual, but he did enjoy the zoo... he just enjoyed it from the comfort of his stroller with a blankie and a waterbottle. We spent a couple hours at the zoo and checked out as many animals as we could, then went home for lunch. As we were driving home, we noticed that one of the small food stores that we go to was having a free BBQ at the time, so we stopped and had burgers and hotdogs for lunch! It was a very nice surprise. We also picked up some burgers and loaves of bread on a great sale! Double surprise.
While Logan had a much-needed nap, Daddy went out to wash the car (which he'd been wanting to do for quite a while) while I got ready for the meals on Sunday. Then we ordered chinese food for dinner and Ross and I rented a movie for after Logan went to bed. All in all it was a very nice day and we all enjoyed ourselves very much.
Sunday was a very busy day. Father's day at Church of the Rock was 80's style (always a theme with our church... we're a bit crazy sometimes...) and they really outdid themselves. It was hilarious and awesome. Very well done. We then went home and Hal, Melissa and Kaedyn came over to join us and Ross's family for lunch, since they didn't have any plans with their family. We all stuffed ourselves far too much with Quiche, croissants, breakfast sausages, and strawberries. Then to top it off I made Ross's favourite - pie. An apple pie and a strawberry rhubarb pie. They turned out really well, which is great because I was VERY nervous as I don't make pie often. but it seemed to go well. :)
Logan had his nap and then we went over to my parents place for dinner. We had a great steak dinner over there and Dairy Queen Ice Cream Pie for dessert. Needless to say Ross and I were ready to undo our belt buckles a notch after dinner. We had eaten well that day. It was great to see all of our families and spend some time with them celebrating the dad's.
Logan is slowly getting better. His cold has moved to his chest and he now has a cough, but he's doing pretty good. Aside from being REALLY grouchy because of lack of sleep (due to the coughing at night) he's doing ok. Just gotta keep him busy until naptime.
So, today we rest. Enjoy the quietness of the day and the rain falling outside (we needed rain sooooo badly!!!). It's nice and refreshing and it's taking the humidity out of the hot air, so that is a HUGE God-send to me... humidity and a pregnant-me do not generally get along. So hopefully today will be a good day... with nice long naps. :)
Till the next adventure,
Jen

Summer is here!
Finally! It's a gorgeous day out today and we have been playing in the sprinkler with Melissa and Kaedyn all morning! It's a sunny 28 degrees right now and the water was definitely refreshing. Logan is just napping now, and then it's off to great-grandma's to do some tomatoe planting :)
You'll have to forgive the lack of pictures... blogspot is being a bit stupid right now and it takes AGES to upload pictures (still!) and to top that off, my internet is being weird as well. So all that combined... it's just not working. I will put pictures up soon, and if you want some now email me and I can send you some! :) ***Edited to add - I'm adding pictures now! ***
So... we've been up to all sorts of mischief and fun these days. Logan went to the Zoo with Nana and Pops (Ross's parents) and had a blast. He enjoyed the monkeys best, I'm told, and he rode the train there as well. For those of you who know Logan, this is like the BEST THING IN THE WORLD to be able to actually GO on the train. He talked about it for days. Lots of animation and sounds to go with the story, it was hilarious! (sorry, I have pictures of the train and zoo, but they're not loading. Maybe something to do with the fact that Pops has a REALLY nice camera??? I have no idea. Email me if you want them, I send them via email to you!)

We have also had many days outside, picking dandilions (ie: flowers) out of the yard, mowing the lawn with Daddy, driving Uncle Matty's car in the driveway, lots of fun. :) It's is finally warming up and I am looking forward to when the wading pools open so that we can get out swimming. For now the sprinkler is working great though!
The baby is doing good. I am having a bit of anxiety around the whole pregnancy thing, as most of you know, but I am doing alright. The baby is still safe and snug as far as I know. :) I am starting to feel better as well. The nausea is starting to taper off and is not nearly as bad anymore, and I am having a little bit more energy. I can actually get through most of the day without a nap, although I could sleep for a LONG time at night. haha! I think I am having some trouble sleeping, with all the anxiety and everything. Hopefully that resolves soon.
Ross is anxious to start school of course, he is so excited to be going back. But he's plugging away at work for the rest of the days that he's there and we're looking forward to some camping and such this summer. :)

Nope, I haven't forgotten...
Sorry for the delay in posting guys! Blogspot has been having a few technical errors in which it takes me HOURS to load up photos onto posts and well, I don't have that much time. ;) I will be back and I promise I will update with lots of pictures of Logan. I have tons, so there will be pictures to come. :)
Cheers for now!

What the heck happened to May???
So apparently it's June already... or so they tell me. Bah. Time is FLYING! I honestly thought that with this pregnancy and being so sick that time would pass ever so slowly... but nope! I'm already 8 weeks pregnant! Yipee! Only 5 more weeks of 1st trimester and I then get to start enjoying my pregnancy instead of worrying about how clean my toilets are... *sigh* I am thankful to be pregnant, don't get me wrong... but I'm far too well acquainted with the inside of the toilet bowl.
Oh what have we been up to these days... seriously, I'm trying to remember. We're currently in full swing of "Love Winnipeg" so that is keeping me busy. For those who don't know what it is, it's a 2 week event that many churches band together and do, where we are pretty much ALL over the city doing random acts of kindness. Things like yard work, area clean up, free garage sales in the inner city, carnivals, visits to the elderly, that kind of stuff. So we've been doing tons of stuff this past week for the Love Winnipeg events and that has been keeping us VERY busy.
Logan is growing FAR too fast. This kid now speaks in 3-4 word sentences, and non-stop. He's constantly talking about something, asking about something, telling me about something... I'm always amazed when I watch him sleep at night, that something with so much energy, that is so active can lie so still. haha! He's a handful and a half, but he is so much fun. I wouldnt trade him for the world.
So... I think I will be off to bed now. Logan is fast asleep for his nap and I am thinking I will be doing the same. Adios amigos and I will check back in soon... with pictures! Just waiting on a CD from my dad that contains all the recent pictures that are on his camera. :)

Ultrasound update!
Good heavens am I ever sick. I feel like garbage. The fun of first trimester, hey?
Anyways... in other GOOD news, we had an ultrasound today! Baby is doing great, measuring right on time and the little heart was flickering away so beautifully on the screen. Everything is looking good so far, but this was more of a baseline ultrasound and it will be monitoring from here on in. The radiologist even came in to scan me as well, and said that everything looked great. Yipee! So we have a healthy baby in me, who is doing great and staying right where it should!
This is going to be short today... I am fighting the urge to throw up at the moment, so it's just not a good time to be writing. But I had to update on the ultrasound of course. :)
Will write more later...

Ah Monday...
...otherwise known as "Recovery Day". The day where we recover from our insane lack of sleep, and try and get our toddler back on track from the weekend festivities. Weekends generally conisist of poor napping, late bedtimes and well... fun with Daddy, so really... who wants to sleep?! Not Logan.
Our weekend did include some sun though, so that is ALWAYS nice. Especially in Winnipeg these days where hot days are few and far between. Saturday I slept because I worked overnight on Friday night, but we did hang out with some friends Saturday night. Ross finally saw the Star Trek movie that he's been dying to see, and he loved it. He's now saying "I wanna see Star Trek again...". Don't ask me what all the hype is about, I have no desires to see such movies... but he's a fan, so I'm thankful for friends and family members who will take him. ;)
Unfourtnately Ross's Trekking experience wasn't completely stellar, as he left the building to find out that his bike lock had been cut and his bike had been stolen. He was super bummed because he rides his bike ALL the time. It's his summer exercise and transportation to work and back when it's not raining, and it's what keeps him sane at his desk job. So while it is just a "thing" and not the end of the world... it was a lifestyle for him. I think that's what bummed him out the most. However, my Mom offered to lend him her bike for the summer to take to work and back until Ross got a new one. We likely won't get a new one this summer, perhaps next summer if it's in the budget, but my mom has a very nice bike and Ross is definitely enjoying having the freedom of biking back. We are praying for a smoking good deal on a nice bike to invest in for him, hopefully sometime around his birthday. :)
Sunday was a BEAUTIFUL day, so we played outside in the afternoon and then had some people from church over and BBQ'd some burgers. We played a game till FAR too late in the evening and are now exhausted. haha. But we had fun, and that's all that matters :)
So now, we are recovering. Logan is singing himself to sleep in his bed, down for an early nap and as soon as he is sleeping I am heading off to do the same thing.
Pregnancy-wise, I am still feeling the same. Quite sick most of the time, especially after I eat anything, and feeling quite tired. Otherwise not much going on. I should be having an ultrasound sometime this week to check on things and see how they're doing... but the date is still TBA. My tummy is still growing - WOW do things show fast when it's the third one! I am honestly shocked at how fast my tummy popped out this time. But after talking to a friend who has 4 kids, she wasn't surprised in the least. With her 2nd, 3rd and 4th kids she was showing much earlier and in maternity clothes by 8 weeks. Well, I am 7 weeks today... and I am definitely coming up to that point. *sigh* Ah well, all I want is a healthy baby. I can lose weight later. ;)
That's about all for our weekend... lots of fun, now time for lots of rest. Adios!

Don't ask me what all the hype is about, I have no desires to see such movies... but he's a fan, so I'm thankful for friends and family members who will take him. ;)

First thunderstorm of the year!
... and it lasted all of 5 minutes. Yep. Big storm.
BUT it was a downpour... and in Logan's world that means only one thing. PUDDLES! So we watched the storm out the window (because the thing had foiled our walk in the first place) and watched the birds get wet. Very funny to a 1.5 year old boy. "Birdie! Rain!" (as if to warn them... you're getting wet!) Thunder cracked and roared and everytime Logan looked at me with amazement and wonder and said "ooooooohh!". It was a good experience all around. It does Mommy's heart good to know her little boy loves storms as much as she does.
I heard later that someone said something about a funnel cloud, but I have a hard time believing that...
Anywho. Back to our puddles. So, Logan notices that the whole world around him is now soaking wet and I suggest boots. Well. What a GREAT idea! He goes tearing off to find his "boops" and we get dressed to go outside. Of course, Mommy being 100% aware of her new blog and how cute her son is - grabs her camera. We find a good little puddle, splash around for a while and then explore the world around us. See, 5 minutes of rain doesn't make for grand puddles, just little ones. So we entertained ourselves with a small puddle,

a pinecone
and a dandylion.

We also checked out trees and bushes.
The wind was cool, so we headed back inside for some supper about 20 minutes later.
What else did we do today? We went for a bus ride! Logan loves - and I mean LOVES the bus. So we had Mommy's friend Andrea over today and decided, why not. Let's brave the weather and go to the mall on the bus. So off we went. We took the bus all the way to the mall (which was just enough time to be tired of the bus and want to do something else), hung out there for about 45 mins to an hour, and then came home on the bus. He was just thrilled to be on the bus. And, to top it all off, we saw a firetruck, semi trucks and a cement truck on the way. Most importantly the firetruck - also known as "wee-oo wee-oo" (think siren noises) which was mentioned a few times on our trip thereafter.
All in the day of the life of Logan. What tomorrow will bring, nobody knows.

Oh, and Logan shared his cars with the baby today. Apparently babies like cars... so I'm told.
Until the next adventure...

Logan and his baby...
I don't think my little boy can get any cuter. Ok, he probably can but good heavens is he ever cute. Here's our little scene yesterday.
I just crawl out of the tub, enjoying some nice relaxing time after a long day of very bad nausea and a very active toddler - not a good combination for those who are wondering. I throw on a sweater and come out of my room to the hall where Logan is playing. "Mommy!" I hear. He comes and hugs my knees, a new favourite sign of affection of his. He reaches up, grabs the top of my pants and pulls down - trying to get me to come down to his level. He says to me, "baby!" and proceeds to hug my belly and give it kisses and snuggles. Aw, so sweet. But wait, it gets better. He all of a sudden runs away and comes back with one of his folded up blankies from his stack of recieving blankets. He brings it back to me and puts it on my belly! I say to him, "Aw, are you sharing your blankie with your baby?" "Sssare!" he says to me. Ross and I proceed to melt. Ok, I melt. Ross laughs and thinks it's cute. My little boy is already sharing with the baby! This may not be a big deal to some, but if you have kids or you understand sibling rivalry at ALL... this is a very good and very sweet thing!
Now, you need to understand that blankies are the end of the world to Logan. They're his favourite thing ever. If there is a blankie, everything is ok. For him to share a blankie is like for me to share chocolate when I'm PMSing. It just doesn't happen easily. He has them everywhere, he has a different favourite blankie every night and there is one in particular that if he has a bad dream, sometimes that blankie can make it all better. (Wish I would think of that more often when he's clinging to me at 3am...)
My little guy is going to be an AWESOME big brother soon. He is such a helper and loves to declare himself "I helper!". I think he's just totally going to fall into a big brother type of role and love his baby to pieces.
What a sweetheart. I love him so much.

The evil that is... Facebook.

So, I've had a few comments on facebook about the pregnancy... I probably should have made that one clear from the get-go. Sorry about that. If you've commented on my Facebook any type of congrats or anything... I probably deleted it. (But thank you for your congrats, I did read them of course!) Here's why...
The thing about losing a child, is that a LOT of people tend to fly into your life all at once. They become your temporary friend and ask you all sorts of personal questions that they would normally not be asking. "How are you doing?... No, how are you REALLY feeling?", "If you need anything, anything at all, call me anytime. If you just want to talk about things, I'm always here... even at 3am...". You know, stuff like that. People who I don't even have - and have never had - their phone numbers are saying "call me anytime". People who have NO prior interest in my otherwise boring life because well... I'm boring... are now asking all sorts of prying questions, claiming to "be there for me".
Yes, I know they mean well. Really. And I honestly do appreciate the rally of friends around me in a difficult time, it was a blessing. But to tell you the honest truth, when the dust settles and everything seems to calm down a bit... you know, 3-4 weeks after the fact... those people disappear. My so-called friends now have more interesting things to do than to talk to me about my life and grief. My offers for 3am phone calls... I'm now hardpressed for a 2pm chat conversation on the internet, never mind the risk of picking up the phone. I'm not bitter, even though it may sound like I am... but I am wiser. I feel a bit sheepish pouring out my life and heart to people who I later found out really didn't care at all. They just got caught up in the moment. Everyone loves to be needed, it's human nature. But I feel a bit... well... guarded now. I don't want that happening again.
So... back to facebook. In dealing with what I have dealt with in my life, and now entering a new pregnancy (and all the hesitations and fears that come with it) I am trying my best to stay close to my friends, and be aware of those who are just "here for the excitement". If you have this blog address, you're likely someone I consider a friend. If you think you are, then you likely are. I'm not talking about people who I keep in touch with, or people that I volontarily email or call... I'm talking about people I haven't talked to in months or years just because well, we couldn't be bothered. (and if you live in Thailand, that is different ;) haha!) I have deleted quite a few of those people off my facebook, making it a bit safer of a place for now, but I don't plan on posting anything pregnancy related on my facebook. As friends of mine, you can know all that is going on with the pregnancy and our family through this blog (partially the reason I created it!). But, for my sanity's sake... please leave comments off my facebook wall for now. If you want to send congrats or ask questions, the facebook email is great for that. :)
I hope this doesn't come off as though I'm bitter or angry at anyone, I'm really not. I just feel sheepish about the whole thing, and I feel a little like an open book when I'm really not sure I want so many people to be talking about me so freely. I hope you understand, please know that this is solely a protection of my heart and emotions and nothing more. Thanks. :)

Welcome!
Hi there!
Well, due to overwhelming popular demand... I bring you our blog! Especially made for those who are not in Winnipeg and don't see us often! Now you can keep tabs on Logan, us and the new pregnancy! I will post lots of pictures for you to see and I will try my very best to keep this updated! Hopefully this way you won't feel like Logan is growing a year overnight and that we are doing things that you had no idea about!
Where to start. Here's where we're at.
Me. I am currently 6 weeks pregnant with our third pregnancy and am due January 10th, 2010. Logan being my first, Faith being my second. For those of you who don't know about Faith, she was born at 21 weeks due to some unknown reasons for me going into premature labour. She was born December 2oth, 2007 and passed away 10 minutes after her birth. We still miss her dearly, but we know she is in a much better place and we will see her again someday. This pregnancy has been uneventful so far, but I have many good doctors in place to keep on top of things and all of them have been very proactive. I will be watched very closely this time. My OB/GYN is very confident that things will go much better this time. I am currently doing very well, no scary pregnancy things happening, just very very sick. I have yet to throw up (had to say that - EVERYONE asks me...) but I am feeling very nauseous most of the time. Food is not appealing at all, and I eat out of sheer neccesity. C'est la vie of first trimester. I'm not complaining though, I feel pregnant and I am thankful for that. Otherwise I am working a little bit as a nurse on a postpardum floor, and I absolutely love my job. It's fun, relaxing and I really enjoy it. The nurses there are fantastic and very nice to work with. I work very little, just on weekends. I stay home with Logan during the week and absolutely love being home with him.
Ross. He is currently working at Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, but will be leaving there to begin his graduate studies for his Masters in Psychology. He is absolutely pumped to be going back to school, and if you know Ross at ALL, this will not surprise you. He's self-admittedly addicted to school. He can't wait to write papers, loves exams and loves being in classes. Things I do not understand... so better him than me. ;) He is definitely good at what he does, so I have no doubt in my mind that he will succeed in whatever he does. At home he is working dilligently on Logan's big boy room which is turning out fabulously, and spends lots of time with us. We are looking forward to some family vacation time this summer.
Logan. Oh, what ISN'T Logan up to these days! haha! He is definitely a little boy and keeps us on our toes. He's a ton of fun though. He'll be two years old on August 22nd this year. His latest favourites are his swing set and slide out in the back yard, going for walks outside and building forts in the living room. We don't go more than one day without him begging us for a fort. He is big into books, mostly the Little Critter series and anything to do with cars and trucks. We read these books all day long. We try to get out quite a bit, so he is used to going out a lot but definitely still enjoys a long afternoon nap (don't we all?). He grows faster than I can imagine, and I honestly think that the older we all get, the faster life goes. What's with that?
